Smultronstället are currently recruiting for the following freelance teacher and teaching assistant positions. Please see full role descriptions below. These are a part time, freelance roles. 

We are also accepting applications from teachers available for daytime, evening and weekend private lessons weekend group lessons weekday group lessons. Please enquire for further details.

All applicants must be native Swedish speakers with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Successful applicants must be able to provide an enhanced DBS check and references.

Swedish teacher
Early years/primary ages

Sundays. Possible further hours available during the week.
10.00-12.30

Role description:

  • independently teaching groups of children aged between 1 and 4 years or 5-11 years
  • planning fun, creative and age appropriate Swedish lessons
  • creating overall plans for each term/year
  • instructing and supervising junior teachers/teaching assistants

Ideal candidate:

  • qualified nursery or primary teacher OR substantial experience working in early years education
  • interest in the Swedish language and Swedish culture
  • outgoing and confident and with good leadership skills

Assistant tutor
Saturdays and/or Sundays. Potential further hours during the week.
9.00-12.30

Role description:

  • working with groups of children aged between 1 and 12 years
  • supporting the teacher and assisting the pupils with their work during lessons
  • assisting with material preparation, classroom set up and pack down
  • assisting with preparing and serving of snacks, and clearing up after snack time

Ideal candidate:

  • experience working with children, childcare qualifications a bonus
  • outgoing, confident, creative and playful personality
  • positive, with a can do attitude

Swedish teacher
Teen years and adults

Ideal candidate:

  • qualified teacher OR substantial teaching experience
  • interest in the Swedish language and Swedish culture
  • outgoing and confident and with good leadership skills

Role description:

  • teaching Swedish to groups or individuals with varying levels
  • planning fun and creative Swedish lessons
  • creating overall plans for each term/course
